Google TV to get powerful AI enabled voice control features backed by Gemini

0

Google is significantly upgrading its smart TV ecosystem by integrating Gemini AI into Google TV. This introduces features designed to eliminate the need for manual menu navigation. The update, recently highlighted at CES 2026, aims to make the television a more conversational and user friendly for the living room.

The standout feature of this update is the ability to adjust hardware settings through natural voice commands. Instead of wandering through nested menus to fix a dull picture or distorted audio, users can simply state the problem. Phrases like “the screen is too dim” or “I can’t hear the dialogue” will prompt Gemini to automatically calibrate the brightness or enable subtitles and voice-enhancing sound profiles. This hands-free approach ensures that viewers can optimize their experience without interrupting the content they are watching.

Gemini also brings a “visually rich framework” to search results. Rather than providing static text, the assistant now responds with HighRes imagery, video context, and real-time updates for topics like live sports. For complex queries, a new “Deep Dive” feature provides narrated, interactive summaries that are simplified for a family driven audience.

The update expands the TV’s utility beyond streaming. Through integration with Google Photos, users can search for specific memories using natural language and create stylish slideshows on the fly. Furthermore, Google is introducing generative AI tools like “Nano Banana” and “Veo” allowing users to create original artwork or videos directly on the big screen.

These AI-powered features are scheduled to debut first on select TCL devices running Android TV OS 14. A wider rollout to other Google TV manufacturers and projectors is expected in the coming months. By moving toward a more conversational interface, Google is positioning the TV not just as a display , but as an intelligent, responsive companion for the modern smart home.

ONN TV Remote Not Working? Step-by-Step Fixes for Issues

Walmart’s ONN TV is popular among people all over North America. The Onn offers TVs that run on either the Roku OS or Google TV. Onn TV is a very good competitor of all the major streaming boxes and sticks, including Chromecast, Google TV Streamer 4k, Fire TV Stick, and Apple TV. If you’re using Onn TV and encounter some issues with the Onn TV remote, then this is your one-stop guide for all problems.

ONN TV Remote Not Working

Fixes for Different Onn TV Remote Not Working Issues

The volume function isn’t working on your remote.

There are two reasons why it isn’t working. The primary reason might be that the button is nonfunctional. It’s mainly due to external physical damage or a minor short circuit inside them. It can’t be fixed on your own. Either contact a technician or better replace them with a new one

Another reason would be because of choosing a different mode. Check if the device is in the correct device category mode that controls the volume. e.g., TV, SAT/CBL, AUDIO, B-RAY/DVD, STREAM, OTHER

Channel Changing function isn’t working

This can be because of the same reason as mentioned in the previous one. Or try pressing enter after selecting the channel number. Sometimes the device needs a confirmation like that to select the channel.

Multiple buttons on the remote aren’t functional

This can be due to the same reason as mentioned above. It’s better to replace it with the new one.

Continuous blinking of the light on the remote.

Sometimes it’s a notification from the remote saying the battery is about to die. Replace the battery, and the issue will be resolved.

Main menu or App hub does not appear when clicking on the remote.

If you’re using a universal remote, the App Hub feature doesn’t work with it. This feature works only with the original remote. Try changing the remote.

Can’t program the remote

Try all the available codes manually. It should work. If it isn’t, then try the Auto Code Search method. To control multiple devices like a TV/DVD player, you should program the remote buttons separately to control each function of the device.

If you don’t know your device code, then click here. and search for your device from the list

If you want to program Onn TV remote buttons manually, then follow the steps given below.
  1. Press and hold the Program button on your remote.
  2. Select the device you want to program from the list. (ex. SAT/TV/STRM etc.
  3. Observe if the power button turns on or not.
  4. Enter your four-digit device code.

Check if the red light in the remote is still blinking. If NO, then the remote has programmed successfully. If it’s still blinking, then the device code entered is wrong. Try to put the correct one

Hope this guide is useful. Comment down if you are facing any other issues.

Amazon’s new Vega OS comes to Fire TV Stick 4K Select

By now, you must have already known about losing support for side-loaded apps on Fire TV Sticks 4K Select. Well, there is more. Since the platform won’t be using Android-based Fire OS, all the Fire TV apps will be rewritten. Their new OS is known as Vega OS, and some streaming platforms have already gained access to the OS and started building compatible services. And their all-new Fire TV Stick 4k Select (hoping that Amazon will change this name) will come with VEGA OS and its compatible apps. Since they are running on a tight schedule, Amazon might change its decision. Maybe they will run all their apps in the cloud-based service with a device interface as Vega OS. Similar to what we have seen on Xbox and Amazon Luna.

Amazon's new Vega OS

Those apps that are compatible with Vega OS will be named as “Amazon Cloud-Hosted app”, and those running on the cloud-based service will be known as “Amazon Cloud App Streaming.” The games and the downloader app will not be available in the new version. It will be a pure video streaming service. The developers will have a choice to tunnel the user’s IP address for a better targeted ad experience. For the first 9 months, Amazon will provide developers with cloud service for the developers to develop their apps, and after that, based on the number of active users, they will charge them.

Buy Fire TV Stick 4k Select

The 9-month program sounds like a pit for both the users and the developers. If the developers won’t be able to build their app in the given time frame, then they are forced to join the paid program, and there might be chances where developers ditch the service at the last moment, too.

Like we have seen, how cloud-based services like Google Stadia and OnLive had their miserable failure because they were too ahead of their time. Due to lag and connectivity issues, users were not able to enjoy the full potential. This is something that Amazon is also going to face.

The tech behind this is immense, and there will be a lot of technical issues along with it. All the users using the device won’t be aware of it, and this might affect their business in the wrong way. Stay connected to us for frequent updates on the tech world.

Comcast Restructures Connectivity and Platform Units With Significant Layoffs

0

US telecommunication giant Comcast is all set to make a significant cut in its connectivity and platform units. According to Reuters, the layoffs will affect Xfinity’s internet, mobile, and pay television services, as well as Sky’s European business. Lately, there has been a rise in the number of their competitors, due to which they have lost a significant amount of users. The decision was mainly taken because of their weakening broadband business and to improve operations. The company is focusing on complete rebranding in its managerial structure, and all these changes will come into existence from January.

comcast-layoffs

Comcast has been trying to push their internet service pricing to meet the competition by shifting from region-specific pricing to a unified national pricing model for ease of operation. The move was done to compete directly with AT&T and Verizon.

Currently, the connectivity and platform use a three-tiered management system where the division head receives reports from the regional team before they go to the top leads. In the new model, instead of multiple leaders, the whole regional team of a nation will report to a single executive. This will help the company to avoid clutter and operate smoothly. The positions that are going to be removed remain confidential.

The whole structural change is done on the managerial and administrative level, and no retail staff or customer service team will be affected by this layoff. And the company has mentioned that this layoff has nothing to do with employees’ performance. It’s for the ease of business and to prepare the company for the new challenges.

One Click to Clear all Your Caches on Amazon Fire TV

Amazon will be releasing a new software update for Fire TV, which will allow users to free up space by deleting the cache in just one click. Users were complaining about the storage space issue in the Fire TV on all social media platforms. And now the company has decided that it’s high time they address this issue.

One Click to Remove all Your Caches on Amazon Fire TV

Users don’t have to delete any apps to get space now. Previously, the storage used to get filled mainly because of the file size, and users had to wait for an update to get rid of that extra space. And the other way was because of the user data, like their login credentials, and changes they make to the devices. Users had to uninstall the application to remove that information.

And another major reason was the cache. These are things the apps download and store on the devices on their own. Cache files mainly consist of the app page and the thumbnails. Caches are temporary files that apps download to gain speed and performance by eliminating the need to consume data to load that particular information again and again. Which means those are harmless files which the app can download again if needed. Will the app slow down? Yes. But it’s barely noticeable.

Before, the user could remove the caches of individual apps by going into Settings -> Application -> Manage Installed Applications -> Clear all Application Caches. Agree on the confirmation notification pops up, and done. It gets the job done, but going through individual apps to get the work done is quite a hassle.

That’s where the relevance of one click and clearing all your cache comes in. This feature has been spotted in almost all the Fire TV lineups, like the Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It’s not out completely yet, but yeah,h you can expect them soon. You can also checkout best streaming devices with local channels support.

Gmail for Android new look features Material 3 Expressive containers

0

Google has been steadily updating its apps to align with the modern Material 3 Expressive design and interactions. Previously, Gmail for Android, its primary email client, received a subtle Material 3 makeover. With the latest update, more prominent Material 3 Expressive elements are being introduced.

Gmail Material 3 Expressive

Emails now list in individual containers!

The most noticeable change in the Gmail app is the introduction of containerization. Each email in the inbox is now displayed within its own container, with small gaps between items and subtle curvature for the first and last messages. As shown in the image below, the changes are more pronounced when comparing the previous version to the latest.

Gmail for Android new look features Material 3 Expressive containers

In addition to the above change, other notable enhancements have been made to Gmail’s overall appearance. Through these updates, Google aims to align all UI elements with the Material 3 Design language, ensuring a consistent design across its Android OS and native apps.

Other changes we noticed were:

  • Visual Changes: The redesign includes borders on the screen’s sides and a unified background layer for elements like the bottom bar, hamburger button, and account switcher.
  • Search Bar Update: Some users see a new search app bar, aligning with other Google Workspace apps like Drive and Keep, replacing the older joined design.
  • Other M3 Expressive Features: The update adds bubbly swipe action animations and prominent Reply/Forward buttons at the bottom of emails.
  • Ongoing Updates: The redesign is part of a broader rollout of Material 3 Expressive elements, with areas like the Compose screen and homescreen widgets yet to be updated.

Let us know your thoughts on the Material 3 Expressive direction that Google is taking. Also, which one of the above UI changes do you find more interesting? For us, the bubbly animation is a great change and enhances the overall interactive experience.
