Its very long time since Spotify has announced that they will add Video Support. Now, a long wait comes to an end as company finally confirmed that it is planning to introduce video content on its Android app later this week followed by iOS by the end of next week.
Spotify has announced its plans to support videos in its services at huge press event in May last year. The plan was to offer videos from partners like ABC, ESPN, BBC, and Comedy Central—hello, Broad City clips—as well as original short-form content. So what’s the holdup?
Now today Shiva Rajaraman, Spotify’s vice president of product, told the Wall Street Journal“We are at the end of a journey of testing, We are going out effectively as planned. Our goal was largely to get a wide breadth of content and experiment and test.”
Videos which you will see on Spotify will be small in length and will in bundles like “News of the week” or “Laughs at Lunch”All users will have access to Spotify’s video service, even those who don’t pay a monthly subscription fee. However, expect to see some ads if that’s the case. The streaming video will also be limited to the mobile apps as well
