YouTube TV is the best live TV streaming platform, followed by Fubo, Sling TV etc.

Starting in 2023, online streaming services moved away from their niche to become a household necessity. Users became less dependent on traditional cable TV and more inclined toward online streaming platforms such as YouTube TV, which come at a fraction of the former pricing.

According to an article by Cord Cutting News, Americans are ditching traditional cable TV for online live TV services. In their Fall 2024 survey, which includes approximately 1000 news readers, people are drawn toward YouTube TV as their preferred live TV streaming platform.

As far as the rating is concerned, the readers have mostly opted for YouTube TV at 27.3%, followed by Sling TV at 10.2% and Philo at 9.1%. This shows that Subscribers are more drawn to YouTube TV than the other live TV streaming services.

Below is the complete result of the survey conducted by Cord Cutters.

  • Youtube TV: 27.3%
  • Sling TV: 10.2%
  • Philo: 9.1%
  • Frndly: 8.1%
  • Hulu+ Live TV: 6.1%
  • Direct TV Stream: 3.9%
  • Fubo: 2.2%

Philo and Frndly have gained a significant number of users due to their aggressive pricing. Whereas Hulu+ Live TV subscribers have remained mostly stagnant. As for Sling TV, they are losing subscribers more than the rest of the streaming platforms combined. In 2023, they lost more than 300,000 subscribers in a single quarter. Back in May 2024, they were down to 1.92 million subscribers from 2.06 million at the end of 2023.

Coming back to YouTube TV, subscribers are drawn to it because of its simplicity and intuitive user experience. Although it’s safe to mention that YouTube TV is priced at a significant premium, still people prefer it for its smooth user experience.

YouTube TV managed to add 1.9 million subscribers in 2023. Whereas Hulu + Live TV added 100,000 and Fubo added 173,000 subscribers. It’s safe to say that users will prefer more on-demand services from the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and Apple+ giving them the option to choose as per their liking instead of being dependent on traditional Cable TV.
