Thomson announced a Cast 150 streaming stick, almost identical to Chromecast with Google TV. The Chromecast with Google TV was launched in 2020, and it was discontinued earlier in 2024. The main reason behind the discontinuation is the launch of the Google TV streamer.
The new streaming stick, Thomson Cast 150 has the same design, which is the oval-shaped plug-and-play dongle with HDMI. The Thomson Cast 150 is powered by a quad-core Cortex A35 CPU and Mali-G31 GPU. It is paired with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It also comes with a voice remote that follows Google’s new reference design.
Remote control of Thomson Cast 150 includes the “Live TV” button. Although the remote design is little different from the Chromecast with Google TV remote, but buttons are quite similar to Chromecast. It includes the shortcut for Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, and Disney+, along with other navigational buttons.
Coming to availability and price, As Thomson is mostly deals in Europe, its obvious that Cast 150 will be available in Europe. However, the company did not disclose any details about it. The price is also not revealed, but we think it will be around the price of Chromecast with Google TV.
Moreover, few weeks back Thomson has launched the new 4K Streaming Box Plus 270 based on Google TV in Europe
