Google is rolling out an update to Chromecast with Google TV, which includes the March Android security patch 2024. The update changes the firmware version of Chromecast with Google TV to STTL.240206.002 from STTE.231215.005. It is the third update for the Chromecast in 2024, seems Google is very active in updating the streaming stick.
The update weighs about 72.55 MB which is smaller than the previous update in February. The last update was rolled out on Chromecast in the last week of February, along with the January security patch.
Talking about today’s update, it includes the security fixes and improved performance. Although, Chromecast with Google TV remains on Android 12. If you did not get the update yet don’t panic and check it manually by following the steps below.
- Launch Chromecast with Google TV.
- Click the profile image in the top-right corner
- Go to Settings > System > About > System Update.
Recently, Chromecast with Google TV gets the UI update, in which the homescreen will have smaller circular icons in app row, which were earlier rectangular box design. Moreover, the streaming stick also gets Fast Pair and easier output switching.
