A couple of weeks earlier, we reported that Google is preparing a cheaper version of the Chromecast with Google TV. The upcoming Chromecast HD is in the leaks before the official launch. Well, the leaks have taken a step forward as some retailers have already listed the streaming device for sale in the European markets, including Germany.
Reportedly, the Google Chromecast HD will feature a similar design as the 4K model. The new box by the company will include two AAA batteries, a power brick, and a USB-C to USB-A cable. Also, it will ship with voice control remote with dedicated shortcut keys to Netflix and YouTube.
As for specifications, the streaming device will equip the Amlogic S805X2 chipset under the hood. The processor will offer support for AV1 decoding and 1.5GB of RAM. Also, the video output is limited to 1080p with less raw power as compared to the existing Chromecast. For software, it will boost Android 12 out of the box, making it the first device to run this software.
In Germany, some retailers, including Octo24, PC King, and Jacob have already listed the device for sale. Moreover, they claim to deliver the products within the next 1-3 days. As for prices, it costs €44.99, excluding taxes on Octo24. Although it was rumored to be priced at €40. On the other side, the other retailers are demanding a higher price.
