How to use Plex Android and iOS app to stream local media to Chromecast

Plex organizes all of your personal media, wherever you keep it, so you can enjoy it on any device. With Plex, you can easily stream your videos, music, photos and home movies to your Android phone or tablet from your home computer running Plex Media Server

To stream the local media content like movies, music ,etc you first need to install the plex media server which  can be downloaded on the Plex website. After installing Plex Media Server, you are able to add content to your library. To do so, simply navigate to the Plex media manager and click “Add a section”. A popup will guide you through the process of adding certain folders from your computer to your Plex media library. To keep everything in order, you can select whether the media folder contains movies, TV shows, music, photos or home movies.

To select content using a mobile device, you need to download and install the Plex app first which is available on both Android and iOS. Both will cost you $4.99. After installing the app  Simply login, select your Chromecast and start playing a video file.
