An FCC listing revealed that Walmart is ready to release an Android TV stick. The in-house brand of electronics, Walmart is preparing to release the affordable Android TV stick across the US, Canada and some European nations.
A listing on FCC revealed some of its specifications and design details. It runs Android 10 OS and supports video display up to 2K. It comes with a Bluetooth remote with dedicated keys for Google Assistant, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max. Android TV stick incorporates a certified Prime Video and has access to plenty of services with itself.
“So @Walmart is launching a 2K #AndroidTV Stick (SDM8821) under its own brand, “Onn.”.
That’s an Askey FCC listing though it seems from @SDMCtech (DV6073S). @AmlogicPR S805Y SoC, Android TV 10, certified for @Netflix and @PrimeVideo.
And @Google‘s Reference Design Remote (G10).”
The dongle comes with an HDMI cable which is much easier to plug-in. However, the competitors of Android TV stick, i.e., Google and Xiaomi already have a cheap range of dongles like Chromecast with Google TV and Mi TV Stick. It is difficult to predict whether this launch will prove fruitful or not. Android TV resembles the UI of Chromecast with Google TV. The tabs include Home, Discover, and Apps which makes it easier to navigate through the contents.
We can expect the Android TV to arrive soon if the FCC listing proves to be right.
