Xiaomi has launched its Xiaomi TV Stick 4K. Stepping up from 1080p resolution videos, now the new streaming stick from Xiaomi supports 4K playback. Back in September, the TV Stick 4K was spotted on the FCC listing.
The accompanying remote controller features dedicated buttons for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Also, there is a special button to invoke the Google Assistant.
When Xiaomi was carrying the Mi branding, it had the Mi TV Stick which was limited to stream videos in 1080p resolution. Now, with 4K support, Xiaomi can compete with the likes of Chromecast with Google TV and Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K.
Although Google has dropped Android TV 12 recently, Xiaomi’s TV Stick comes with Android TV 11. Also, the streaming device supports AV1 and VP9 hardware decoding. Speculations suggest that the new TV Stick runs on an Amlogic S905Y4 chipset.
The new streaming stick comes with stock storage of 8GB. There is no provision to enter an SD card for integrating more storage. It supports 2GB of memory.
There is no info about the price of the streaming dongle from Xiaomi. The pricing will be close to what the Mi TV Stick costs. Expect it around $60 in the United States and maybe around INR 3500 in India.
