Last year saw Google unveil eight updates for its streaming dongles, and as we step into 2025, the first Chromecast with Google TV update is making its debut, even before the arrival of Android 14. The latest STTL.241013.003 update for Chromecast with Google TV elevates the Android security patch level to November 2024, leaving September behind, yet still operating on Android 12, a change not yet noted in Google’s changelog.

At 72.25 MB, this update surpasses the 59.48 MB patch from November, boasting only “other bug fixes and performance improvements”—but who knows what secrets lie beneath? For a change, we saw Google release eight Chromecast Google TV updates: February, March, April, May, August, September, October, and November last year. Whereas in 2023, we only saw six patches.

We’re eagerly anticipating the highly awaited Android 14 release, promising to transform the Chromecast with Google TV into a central hub for your Matter smart home devices with its innovative “Home runtime.”

In order to check the updates, navigate to Settings > System > About > System update on your Chromecast with Google TV.
