Google recently rolled out the Android 12 update for Chromecast with Google TV 4K. The update was a jump over Android 10 for the device and came with the July 2022 security patch. Google starts to push another update for Chromecast with Google TV 4K, which brings October 2022 security patch. The update comes with the firmware version STTE.220920.015.A1 and weighs around 150MB. As per the release notes, the update also brings bug fixes and performance improvements other than October 2022 security patch.
The Android 12 update brought many privacy improvements over the former. But there were many complaints by users regarding the performance issues and bugs. The UI lag was the most common bug experienced by users of Chromecast with Google TV 4K. But it took Google more than a month to roll out a bug fix update for the same.
If you want to update to the new version of your Chromecast with Google TV 4K, tap on your profile avatar, seen in the top-right corner. Then, open Settings, click on System & choose About, and finally, choose System update. The update has been rolled out to most users by Google.

The Android 12 update enabled users to enable/disable the camera and microphone access for all apps and manage the HDR and surround audio. It also provides an option to match content frame rates while switching between refresh rates for the TV.
