Google TV starts getting the new homescreen design, which was announced back in November 2024. The new homescreen upgrade includes smaller and circular icons for apps. Which means the new home screen will also include more apps. It will improve the look and accessibility of the app row on your Google TV home screen.
Earlier Google TV homescreen apps row had a rectangular box design. The app row contains 12 apps, now with smaller icons the number of apps in the row may increase. The new upgrade also includes some more features for your apps row i.e., you can reorder and add apps through the buttons at the end of the row.

The new Google TV homescreen user interface also includes the new shortcut for live TV channels in the apps row. Earlier, the free live TV channels were found in the Live tab in the top bar. Although the free live TV channels are only available in the US and in a limited capacity in Germany.
Google say the roll of new user interface for Google TV has started rolling out. It may take a few months to complete. So don’t panic if you did not get the new homescreen UI on Google TV.
Recently, Google has rolled out a new fast pair mode along with a January 2024 security patch on Chromecast with Google TV 4k. Moreover, a new Chromecast has spotted in Google Cast-compatible devices section in the Google Home App.
