Google Meet video calling app has come up with a new security feature that will manage the network traffic. There has been an exponential rise in the usage of video calling apps like Google Meet, Zoom Meetings, and Micsrosoft Teams during the COVID-19 outbreak. It is essential that the traffic should be transferred to a trusted network.
Hence, this new security feature will enable administrators to configure their firewall by allowing only the authorized traffic. In a way, it will block the unauthorized networks. Moreover, with the new update Google Meet also gets the protection for non-Google Workspace users.
There has been another update brought forth for the non-Google Workspace users and recognize the fixed IP addresses as Workspace users. The non-Google Workspace users can join calls with their personal Google accounts or anonymously via a safe network.

According to the reports, the old IP addresses will be ceased by Google from March 1, 2021. The expiration of the old IP addresses may impact the previously used network optimization protocols. So, it is advisable for the admins to update their firewalls with the new IP addresses in order to abide by the latest security network rules.
However, it will not impact the end-users. Google has already given out the new IP addresses. But, Google is still experimenting with new features to ensure safety for the users of the video calling app. This new update may result in a tough competition among Google Meet Microsoft Teams, and Zoom in the future.
