Google starts rolling out the September 2023 Security Patch on Chromecast with the Google TV HD variant. This year we have seen Google is very punctual in rolling out firmware updates on its Chromecast sticks. The latest update changes the firmware version of Chromecast with Google TV HD to STTK.230808.004.
Recently, the Chromecast with Google TV 4K variant also gets the September security update. According to Chromecast release notes, Chromecast with Google TV HD gets the bug fixes and improvements in the performance of the stick and runs on Android 12. Other than the Security patch there is not any new feature in the update. Although there are some leaks about the Android TV 14 update for Chromecast. So we might see Android 14 on Chromecast in the near future.
Usually, the updates on Chromecast automatically pop up but if your Chromecast has not gotten the update till now. Then you can try it manually by going through Settings > System > About > System update.
