It’s been a long time since Google refreshed the Chromecast with the Google TV lineup. An HD iteration of the same Chromecast with Google TV was launched a couple of years ago, but it hardly carried any required changes in the hardware, in other words, it was the same as the 4K version. Since then, a new Chromecast has been spotted at different sources, and even a new remote was uncovered via Android TV 14 Beta. In a new development, a source found a new listing of Google Cast-compatible devices in the Google Home App.
New Chromecast Appears in Google Home App
A new Chromecast device with the name “YTD” seems to have appeared in both the HD and 4K variants. It is even reported that “YTD” denotes the Chromecast models from Google. A couple of months ago, another Chromecast with Google TV appeared with the code “YTC,” which is used for native Chromecast devices.
The new sighting confirms the presence of a new Chromecast with Google TV. We could see a new streaming device this year, considering the past leaks and rumors. Moreover, a new remote for Chromecast also appeared a while back in the Android TV 14 Beta. Google could likely launch the new Chromecast in the near future.
As even leaked, the users are expecting a full overhaul with new hardware, and increased storage. Presently, the Chromecast dongle hangs on some occasions, which deteriorates the watching experience, and the hardware upgrade is the only solution.
Chromecast with Google TV Updates
It is difficult to guess the launch date, but it seems near considering the frequency of listings across Google’s product ecosystem. It would not be far from now for the new streaming device to appear on public certifications.
In addition, Google is rolling out quarterly updates from the present fleet of Chromecast devices across the globe. After bringing timely September 2023, and December 2023, the company rolled out a new update with Fast Pair support this month.
