Real images of ChromeBox/Google Meet remote appears with QWERTY Keypad via FCC

Update 27-06-2020 02:22 AM IST: Unfortunately, it is ChromeBox/Google Meet remote not Google ‘Sabrina’ Remote. As per the sources and some previous leaks it was slated to be the Google ‘Sabrina’ Remote.

Google’s next-generation Chromecast or ‘Sabrina’ Android TV Dongle is the next most awaited device in the streaming world after unannounced listings of Xioami Mi TV Stick on AliExpress and Gearbest. The search giant today released a developer preview of Android 11 for Android TV which carried a video of the upcoming streaming device in-between some files. However, we found some real images of Google ‘Sabrina’ Android TV Dongle Remote in an FCC listing.

These images were part of the FCC testing and were posted on the website a few months ago. It carries the same Model GPJ110 and FCC ID EMJRGPJ110 which was quoted by 9to5Google as Remote Control for the next generation Chromecast in March. It also appeared on Taiwan’s NCC featuring the same model number as reported by MySmartPrice.

Google ‘Sabrina’ Android TV Remote Images

Google ‘Sabrina’ Android TV remote features a dedicated Amazon Prime and Netflix buttons. However, a voice search button is present instead of Google Assitant button. The remote control further features voice controllers and round ring for navigation purposes.

Interestingly, the device features a physical QWERTY keypad on the rear side of the remote. It can aid easy typing and will facilitate searching on Android TV. The overall experience will be better and more intuitive. It will solve some of the major problems while using an Android TV.

The printed icons appear to be from Primax Electronics, and it is expected to be reprinted and engraved with Google branding.

Google ‘Sabrina’ Android TV Remote uses two AA Batteries on either side of the device. The batteries won’t be provided by the company as it is added in the Declaration letter.

Hardware/Internals

The remote’s internals is also pictured which unveils some more information about the hardware. The well-packed device packs three different layers of electronic components. It uses N52810 SoC with Bluetooth 5.2 Low Energy semiconductor. It is a baseline member of nRF52 Series SoC. It also supports ANT and 2.4GHz protocols.

The Chip houses a Cortex M4 CPU clocked at 64MHz and supports numerous peripherals like PDM, PWM, TWI and SPI. It is capable of 2Mbps transfer speed while being an exceptionally low energy consumption chip.

Furthermore, QFAAD0 is an IO chip with support for maximum 4mA current.

Other Information

Google ‘Sabrina’ Android TV dongle is expected to feature support for 4K HDR content, HDMI 2.1 port, Dolby Vision Support for low latency gaming and much more.

It is expected to launch somewhere in the second half and along with the Pixel 4a launch. It could come with the latest Android 11 based Android TV firmware.
