T-Mobile has recently announced its new product, the TVision Hub. It is a streaming dongle that offers Google TV. Now, avid smart television users are wondering how this upcoming streaming dongle is any different or better from the Chromecast with Google TV which belongs to Google.

Differentiating T-Mobile TVision Hub and Chromecast with Google TV
I have mentioned the difference between the streaming dongles based on various factors.
Form factor
While mostly the design is the same on TVision Hub and the Chromecast with Google TV, the former has more width than the latter. Both are etched into an HDMI connector.
Chipset
The Chromecast with Google TV has an Amlogic S905X3 chip under the hood whereas the TVision Hub packs an Amlogic S905Y4 processing unit within itself.
Color
Coming to the color of the streaming dongle, T-Mobile TVision Hub is offered only in a single color option which is of a darker shade. Compared to that, the Chromecast with Google TV comes in various colors such as Sky (Blue shade), Snow (Whiter shade), and Sunrise (Pink finish).
Price
The TVision HUB from T-Mobile costs $50. Chromecast with Google TV was priced the same during its launch. In recent days, the price of the streaming dongle from Google has dropped to $39.99.

T-Mobile TVision Hub is Better than Chromecast with Google TV?
T-Mobile’s streaming dongle offers a fairly new chipset compared to the Chromecast. Also, TVision Hub supports AV1 decoding which the Chromecast with Google TV doesn’t.
While the Chromecast with Google TV only offers a USB-c port, the T-Mobile TVision Hub offers a MicroUSB port along with a LAN cable connecting port.
T-Mobile’s streaming device is based on Android TV 11, but Google’s streaming dongle is based on the older Android TV 10. But T-mobile’s TVision Hub with Google TV has very limited availability.
