Google is coming up with a “significant” upgrade for its Home App. It is primarily focusing on providing “more power and flexibility” to the user. The smart home user are about to get their mind blown.

- Users will be able to create new automation with multiple conditions, including specified days and times and presence-based triggers (like if someone is home or far away)
- The user can run the task for a specific day only once, rather than making frequent periodic changes.
- Now the user can tailor the required output according to the time of day and household presence.
- The new automation will now allow sending notifications to a specific user or the entire household.
- This time, the automation is powered by Gemini, which makes it more powerful than ever.
You can achieve the new automation setting by
- Open the Google Home app,
- Click on Create -> New Automation
- To name the automation, click on Add Name (you can also add a description to the automation by clicking on the Add Description option)
- Add the starters, conditions, and action required.
- Click on Save.
According to Google, “some capabilities are not yet available in the new editor”. There are some other features, such as starting or creating an automation which starts only when the requirement is achieved. You can set automation to react according to certain things, like weather changes or an unannounced guest arriving.
