So the resetting firestick remote instructions are different for each model. In this article, we have listed instructions for resetting the Firestick remote for all the variants.

You should check your Amazon Firestick model below to reset the remote. Although to reset most of the remotes you have to follow the same set of instructions, but still there are expectations.

Steps to Reset Amazon Firestick Remote

The below instructions can be used to reset all the Firestick remotes except Basic Edition Remote and Alexa Voice Remote (1st Generation).

  1. You have to unplug the Firestick from power for at least 60 seconds to completely drain the power and shut it down.
  2.  Now Press and hold the left button + Back button + Menu button for 12 seconds.

  3. After that release all the buttons and wait for 5 seconds.
  4. Remove the batteries from your remote and plugin the Amazon Firestick and wait until you see a message onscreen that says “remote can’t be detected”.
  5. Now put the batteries back in the remote and press the Home Button.

  6. You will see a blue light on your Firestick remote after it successfully reconnects.

Reset Basic Edition Remote

  1. Press and hold the Home button and simultaneously press the Menu button three times.Basic remote
  2. After that release the Home Button and press the menu button nine times.
  3. Now take out the batteries from your Firestick basic edition remote.
  4. Unplug the Firestick and wait for at least 60 seconds.
  5. Now put the batteries back in your Firestick remote and plug in your Fire TV stick.
  6. When the Home screen appears press and hold the home button for 40 seconds.

  7. The resetting process will take some time you have to wait 60 seconds to complete.

Steps to Reset Alexa Voice Remote 1st generation

  1. You have to unplug the Firestick from power for at least 60 seconds to completely drain the power and shut it down.
  2. Now Press and hold the left button + Menu button for 12 seconds.

  3. After that release all the buttons and wait for 5 seconds.
  4. Remove the batteries from your remote and plugin the Amazon Firestick and wait until you see a message onscreen that says “remote can’t be detected”.
  5. Now put the batteries back in the remote and press the Home Button.

  6. Your remote will be paired now.
