After the success of the Mi TV Stick(2020), Xiaomi is preparing to launch the new Mi TV Stick (2021) bearing model number MDZ-27-AA. Along with the slightest design change, the new Mi TV Stick also features some hardware changes as per the FCC specifications sheet.

The new Mi TV Stick (MDZ-27-AA) manual confirms the presence of a remote, cable, adapter, and the Stick itself. We are unable to notice any difference in the remote control in comparison with the previous generation.

However, we can see improved transfer downlink and uplink speeds on the WiFi. The new stick supports up to 866.7 Mbps downlink speed using a VHT80 channel and 300Mbps uplink via the HT40 channel. It is confirmed to carry the new WiFi modules which will increase the download and upload speeds. It may lead to a buffer-free experience while watching content in 4K. However, the previous generation Mi TV Stick was limited to 433.3 Mbps of download speed and 150 Mbps of uplink.

Technically, the new Stick is coupled with Amlogic S905Y4 which couples Quad-Core Cortex-A35 16500+ DMIPS and ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU clocked at 850MHz. The chipset is capable to render 4K resolution videos at 60 frames 10bit. Other prominent features of the SoC includes support for AV1/H.265/VP9 P-2/AVS2 4Kp30, and H.264 codecs. There’s also support for HDR10/10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS HD. Previously, Dolby Atmos and DTS HD was available on Mi TV Stick (2020),

Considering the test reports, the new Stick will use Android TV UI instead of Google TV UI.

As before, you’ll be getting the required accessories when you buy the new Mi TV Stick. Inside the box, you’ll find the new Mi TV Stick 2021 along with its 5W power adaptor (5V-1A), an HDMI extender cable, a Voice controllable Remote for controlling the Mi TV Stick. You’ll also find the 2 AAA batteries that go into the remote. Setting up the device will also follow the same steps as before with minor tweaks in the UI.

We expect the same features to be available in the final product when it arrives on the market. However, it is expected to arrive in the market within just a few weeks, as the festive season is already on the doors across some countries. It will compete against the recently launched Realme 4K TV Stick.
